Most people opt for a wedding in the summer, but this winter wedding held at the Academy in Vancouver Washington might make you think otherwise.

Why: Elliott was Karena’s first crush in elementary school, so it’s about time!
The Story
Elliott and Karena dated long distance for a long time while he was stationed in another state. When he was finally able to come home for a few weeks, they got to host this beautiful wedding in Vancouver, WA.
I’ve been lucky enough to photograph a few of Karena’s friends, so it made the day even more special getting to spend time with people I now call friends. Working with Karena was such a joy from the start. She completely trusted me to capture the moments and went along with my creative process.
Getting to document the day of my couples after we’ve been able to get to know each other is incredibly meaningful to me as a photographer. It really allows me to document in a way that is authentic to who they both are and who they are as a couple. The venue they chose matched perfectly with their style and the beautiful bouquets arranged by Solabee Flowers.
Chapel weddings are so different from the weddings I shoot in the Columbia River Gorge, but I love the dramatic photos that I can get. The architecture and lighting scenarios vary so much from the typical wedding venue, making it the perfect choice for a winter wedding.
Most couples choose to get married between the months of May and October in the PNW! It totally makes sense given the weather the rest of the year. But with how much the PNW identifies with rainy weather and moody vibes, I’m hoping for more winter weddings in Vancouver and the surrounding area!
